An Ecosystem of Health Disparities and Minority Health Resources

About HDPulse

HDPulse is designed to provide access to data and interventions related to minority health and health disparities. It offers resources to identify, prioritize, and mitigate health disparities.

HDPulse consists of two portals: (1) a Data Portal that includes population data, with applications for calculating and mapping health disparities data, and (2) an Interventions Portal that provides access to intervention research studies with accompanying tools and materials. The HDPulse web portal facilitates research studies central to NIMHD's mission and is a valuable resource to the minority health and health disparities research community.

Information for researchers, public health practitioners, and program planners to:
  • Identify health disparities
  • Examine determinants of health disparities
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate initiatives to improve minority health and reduce health disparities

HDPulse Data Portal

The Data Portal characterizes the burden of disparities across the United States and within communities. Users have the capability to use interactive graphics and maps to: assess the magnitude of health disparities; explore spatial and temporal trends; identify geographic patterns; and examine determinants along a social ecological framework.

The Data Portal provides resources to help prioritize the focus of research and public health efforts to reduce disparities and improve minority health.

How can the HDPulse data be used?

  • Researchers can test the significance of observed disparities and patterns
  • Program planners can use it for priority setting and identifying needed interventions
  • Policymakers can make informed decisions such as identifying policy needs and additional resources to address burden of disparities in their local area

HDPulse Interventions Portal

The HDPulse Interventions Portal is a searchable database of research-tested interventions that have been shown to improve minority health and reduce health disparities. The Interventions Portal can inform the design, implementation, evaluation, dissemination, and adaptation of interventions to improve minority health and reduce health disparities.

The Interventions Portal allows users such as minority health and health disparities researchers, program planners, and intervention developers to submit, find, sort, and download evidence-based interventions and resources.

It provides easy access to:

  • Interventions tested in a research study
  • Publications of the intervention findings
  • Products or materials used to develop and implement the interventions
